My tryst with Himalaya

As I have already mentioned in the blog earlier sometime, I had faced a lot of hair loss over a couple of years gradually and found my hair thinning to an alarming state. So, I became a sucker for hair creams and any hair product which could guarantee hair growth at one point of time. Though, I am not a person who really tries a lot of products but I did try Himalaya hair creams. I am personally not a fan of Himalaya (read hate the brand) because I find the products ineffective. The worst thing I hate about the brand is its incomplete list of ingredients. I probably think they have improved on that but I have not yet checked out so I am not sure. But, I do have a friend of mine for whom Himalaya just works. She is fan of its shampoos and face washes. So, I know that the products do work for some. I am doing this post mainly for the hair loss cream which I used but there are some other products too which I have used so I'll mention a word about them.

Himalaya Hair Loss Cream
This was probably the worst product I ever bought which turned out to be an utter waste of money because I bought 100ml pack size for around 200 INR. That is actually too much because a single pack lasts only about 15 days at max. I bought it an year back and tried it. The product is deep brown in color and has a paste like consistency. It has to be applied on whole of the scalp only not the hair.

I think I remember it smelling really weird but I do not remember it now since its been too long. The paste is too sticky and not easy to apply, tends to clump at places making the scalp extremely greasy. You need to wash your hair after its application. So, it is not possible to apply it every night as instructed by the pack. Instead of helping with the hair fall, it made my hair fall. If you comb your hair after applying the cream, you are sure to get an unusually large number of hairs in the comb. So, I had to strive to finish the only pack I ever bought and after that I made a resolution that I'll never buy such items again.

A word of advise is DO NOT BUY THE PRODUCT.

Himalaya Anti-Dandruff  Hair Cream
This was not used by me but my father. I thought I'll mention it in the go. He applies it every night on his hair but I am not very sure whether it makes his hair greasy or not. He just said a single thing about it to me that 'there is no dandruff as long as I use the product'. So, guess, it is a positive rating for the product. But, if he stops using the product, dandruff comes back again so that means that the product does not tackle the root of the problem.

Himalaya Protein Hair Cream
This was also bought by my dad. I used it for just two days. I applied the cream at night on the scalp and tried to cover the hair length but it would have taken too much of the cream so left it for my dad to use. But, the cream made my scalp greasy even though it says non-greasy hair cream. The worst came when after applying the hair cream, I tried to comb my hair. Just like after the hair loss cream, I again faced an unusually high amount of hairs in my comb. So, after the second day, I decided to give my hair a break from such products. But, I would also add that I have read a good review of the product too so if someone wants to give a try, do not hesitate and read the review before buying.

Himalaya Protein Conditioners
I hate Himalaya conditioners. They are so sticky and needs loads of water to remove them even from your hands. Ok, they do make the hair soft but then I think Dove is better in the job and not as sticky. I have used both the smoothness and shine and repair and regeneration bottles. There was no great results from the products so I gave them a pass.

Himalaya Protein Shampoo
It was just horrible. I do not know how a shampoo can be horrible but it was. But, it does suit my friend. So, I would reserve my judgment on it and simply say that one can give it a try.

Ok, to spare you from a really long and depressing post, I do have a few good recommendations in the skin care range which I tried.

Himalaya Refreshing Fruit Mask
I had never used a mask before this, only scrubs. It smells fine and is really thick in consistency. Spreads on the face easily. It is difficult to remove after it dries off just like the clay mask. But, it makes the face glowing and soft. It takes around 20 minutes to dry. I do not get any breakouts so can't say if it helps with that but it does make your skin feel refreshed which it says. I would say that it does not make my skin feel dry after removing the mask even if I do not apply any moisturizer so yes, it is worth a try.

Himalaya Exfoliating Walnut Scrub
Well, this one is the best. It smells really nice, does the job well and makes the skin to glow. One can use this without a cleanser too. But, do not let it stay on the skin beyond the scrubbing otherwise it will leave a product residue on your face. But, yes, it is a definitely good product because you can go without moisturizing afterward. Do remember that the scrub is little rough (as the walnut scrubs are) on the skin due to the walnut shells so if you have sensitive skin, you should pass on the scrub. But, it is not that rough that you can not bear it on your skin. This can also be used as a body scrub, does a great job on the elbows and knees. I would recommend it to people who do not mind little rough scrubs.

If you have read the entire post, you would have understood why I hate the brand. So, it is not that I did not try the products before saying that it is ineffective. Btw, do get the samples from the store if you plan on to buy a product. I did get the samples for Nourishing Skin Cream which I did not find effective personally because I felt it was sticky for my skin even though I have dry skin. I have a sample of Revitalizing Night Cream which I have not yet tried.
